ITINERARY
Park in the hamlet of Les Cours and visit the Cours eco-museum before setting off on your walk (open in July and August). From the car park at the entrance to the hamlet, join the main road which you follow for 100 metres to cross and then take the path to Les Certs. The itinerary is shaded with a few openings to enjoy the view.
At the hamlet of Les Certs, stroll between the houses of the hamlet, enjoying the peaceful atmosphere before continuing the walk. The path down to
La Balme (OBP 304) starts on the left just before the wash house (by the road that joins the Route des Roches). A pretty stone staircase leads down between the houses, then the path leads through the fields, crosses the road after a few hairpin bends to reach the hamlet of La Balme from above.
Go through La Balme with your nose in the air, then, after the chapel, continue to the end of the street to join the path that crosses to La Ville. For the record: the "Cheminées de La Balme" starts also from here, which plunges into the Romanche valley, not far from the Clapier d'Auris. This is a historic path, the only one to link the village to the valley.
Now follow the OBP 308 trail which leads you to the Grand and Petit Châtain, passing through La Ville. A nice semi-shaded balcony crossing to enjoy the view.
At Les Châtains, take the first street on the left which joins the main road. Turn left for 50 metres, cross the road and take the wooden staircase to find the OBP 307 path and finish the loop to the hamlet of Cours.

Or, you can do the loop from Auris Station, following the OBP 302 path towards Les Cours. Same way for the return.

TO SEE ON THE HIKE
- In the hamlet of Les Certs, walk along the narrow streets to the chapel of St Jean-Baptiste, whose wooden bell tower is a particular feature.
- The hamlet of Cours has a chapel, a rural museum and a few sun dials which are signs of a lot of sunshine.

TO KNOW
Auris is located not far from the Roman road that linked Turin to Vienna via Suse, the Montgenèvre pass, Briançon, the Lautaret pass and Grenoble. Auris must have been served by a secondary route that was sunnier than the main road through Mont de Lans.

Dogs must be kept on a lead because of the presence of herding dogs at certain times of the year.
