Flèche and Chamois competitions with ESF

The Flèche and Chamois are timed events organized by the French Ski School (ESF). They give skiers - mainly children and teenagers, but also adults - the chance to test themselves against a competition course in a fun, supervised environment.

- The Flèche is a giant slalom. The gates are spaced relatively far apart, giving priority to speed, cornering and fluidity of trajectory.
- The Chamois, on the other hand, is a special, more technical slalom, with closer-spaced gates requiring greater precision, speed of execution and mastery of short turns.

For each event, participants complete a timed run on a course laid out by ESF instructors. Their time is then compared with that of an opener, a reference instructor. The ranking is based on the percentage difference between the participant's time and that of the opener. Depending on the result obtained, a medal is awarded: bronze, silver, vermeil or gold.

Competitions take place in safe conditions, adapted to the level of participants. After registering with the ESF, skiers receive a race number, can reconnoitre the course and then take it in turns to race. At the end of the race, the results are announced and medals are awarded for everyone's efforts.
