The Funicular takes you from 3100 to 3400m of altitude and makes the glacier accessible to as many people as possible. It is at the summit that the Destination 3400 tour begins, with the Grotte de Glace, the orientation table and the Belvédère des Ecrins.
The Funicular, "Dôme Express" by its real name, is a unique device in France. 100% of its route passes under the glacier. The vault has been dug up to 40m underground so as not to come into contact with the ice. It is accessible via the inclined elevator.
