Starting from the resort, a family hike to discover pastoralism, its history and the local flora and fauna, all in the privileged setting of the Oisans mountain pastures. You'll learn how and why this profession has endured over time.

"Meet the Shepherd" is a day-long outing (9 a.m.–3 p.m.) led by Alain, a mid-mountain guide.
Follow in the footsteps of thousands of sheep, the shepherds and their dogs, and come experience a day of tranquility, well-being, and mountain harmony in Oisans!
Meet the guide between 7:30 a.m. and 8:30 a.m. (meeting point and time will be sent the day before, depending on the flock’s location); approximately 2 hours of walking (one way), a 300-meter elevation gain to meet Baptiste the shepherd, his sheep, and his dogs, and share a special moment with him in an exceptional setting.
What to bring:
Picnic lunch, morning snack, 1.5 L of water per person, hiking boots, cleated sneakers, hiking poles if needed, sunscreen, hat or cap, windbreaker or warm coat. Hiking poles if needed.
This activity is offered by the Maison des Alpages de l’Isère as part of the “Sorties Alpages” series, which will take place throughout the summer, departing from various villages.
